Ep. 107: Gallery Representation and Ownership with Paris Alexander 

On this episode we interview sculptor and art gallery owner, Paris Alexander. We talk about allowing your artwork to speak for itself, going all in with your creative practice, the pros and cons of working with a gallery, and the journey of opening the City Market Artist Collective.

Artist Bio:

Paris Alexander has been creating and exhibiting his work, primarily sculpture, though out the southeast and beyond for over thirty years.

His exhibitions include numerous regional museums and public exhibition spaces. Paris has been an instructor in sculpture and anatomical drawing in many arts council facilities and as an outreach coordinator with the North Carolina Museum of Art. His public works are in the collections of various towns and cities, including the Town of Chapel Hill Public Library, Duke School of Law, Durham. Wake Med hospitals, Raleigh, Cary, and Apex, The North Carolina Athletic Association. His carving of the main Tympanum of The historic Chapel Of the Cross stands along Franklin Street, and he was commissioned by renowned architect Brian Shawcroft, to carve the Comedy and Tragedy, motif above the entry of The Historic Raleigh Little Theater.

He has also been hired to use his chisels to carve lettering and embellishments into many public buildings in the state. His works are part of the permanent collection of Saks Fifth Avenue in seven locations across the U.S., His gallery representation has been nation wide and include England, Austria and Japan. Currently he is the owner and founder of “CMAC”, The City Market Artist Collective, a Raleigh based Gallery dedicated to advancing the careers of professional artist.
