Ep. 163: Curating Stories Through Art with Annah Lee

On this episode we interview Artspace’s Creative Director Annah Lee. We talk about shifting one's focus from art making to curating stories, the power of designing the tone of an art exhibition and advice for artists on applying for exhibitions, photographing your work, and the importance of creating a body of work.

Artist Bio:

Annah Lee is from Raleigh, NC and grew up in a family of artists and art administrators. As an undergraduate student at UNC Asheville, she pursued studio art and art history with a concentration in nineteenth-century American landscape painting. She earned an MA in art history at UNC, Chapel Hill and became a doctoral candidate in 2012. During her time at UNC she gained experience as a writer, teacher and curator. She found her passion for working with community while managing the Block Gallery at the City of Raleigh and has since served as Creative Director at Artspace since 2014. Annah lives in her hometown of Raleigh, NC with her son Henry and two dogs.
